What this is
A drone news aggregator that runs itself. Every morning, a script pulls RSS feeds from defense publications, drone industry outlets, and arxiv. An LLM summarizes and classifies each item. A digest is generated, committed to the repo, and auto-deployed to Cloudflare Pages — usually within 5 minutes of waking up.
What we cover
Three categories, no overlap:
- Defense — drone warfare, contracts, deployments, capabilities. The actual business of autonomous systems in conflict and competition. Sources: The Drive War Zone, Defense News, Breaking Defense.
- DIY / Engineering — PX4/ArduPilot releases, ROS2 updates, companion computer hardware, community projects, build logs. The engineering stack that powers everything else. Sources: DroneDJ, sUAS News, r/diydrones, r/Multicopter, r/ROS.
- Research — arxiv papers from cs.RO and cs.CV filtered for drone applications. Visual SLAM, obstacle avoidance, multi-agent coordination, sim-to-real transfer. Sources: arxiv RSS.
Why this exists
I ran a drone blog (the original Quadcopter Garage) from 2013-2016, then went dark for a decade as the market collapsed under DJI. In 2026 the drone stack is finally something an engineer can build in their garage. The interesting things happening in defense drones, autonomous engineering, and drone research are scattered across dozens of sources. This site consolidates them into one daily digest.
What this isn't
Not a drone review site. Not drone photography. Not Part 107 certification guides. Not the kind of content that ranks for "best drones 2026" — that market is owned by Wirecutter and DJI themselves. This is news, engineering, and research for people who care about autonomous flight as a discipline.
